Governor Fintiri Secures Key Donor Support for Adamawa State

Adamawa State has been selected as one of three states to implement the $45 million EU-UNICEF Strengthening Access to Reproductive and Adolescent Health (SARAH) project, thanks to the sterling leadership, transparency, and adoption of global best practices by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.

The state’s health team, led by Honorable Commissioner of Health Felix B. Tangwami, attended the National Inception Meeting for the project in Abuja from July 1st to 2nd, 2024. Commissioner Tangwami commended Governor Fintiri’s leadership and support, and reaffirmed the commitment of the Adamawa State health sector to achieving the project’s objectives and deliverables.

Dr. Sulaiman Saidu Bashir, Executive Chairman of the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency, acknowledged Governor Fintiri’s successful advocacy and engagement efforts with UNICEF Country Representative Ms. Christian Munduate and other donors, which have attracted significant partnerships and resources to the state. Dr. Bashir emphasized that the SARAH project will improve the health and well-being of Adamawa State citizens by addressing reproductive, maternal, newborn, and child health and nutrition challenges.

The $45 million SARAH project will be implemented across Adamawa, Kwara, and Sokoto states in Nigeria. This achievement demonstrates Governor Fintiri’s commitment to enhancing the health sector and improving the lives of Adamawa State citizens.
