The Adamawa State Commissioner, Ministry for local government affairs Hon. Yayaji Mijinyawa has advised the Adamawa State Agribusiness Support Programme, ADAS-P, to put in place all the necessary strategies to ensure the sustainability of the programme beyond its period.
The Commissioner gave the advice when he received in audience the ADAS-P management in his office in Yola.
The visit was part of ADAS-P preparations to kick start a tour to validate and confirm identified potential irrigation sites and making clusters aimed at boosting dry season farming in the state.
Yayaji assured the management of his ministry’s maximum support and cooperation to ensure the success of ADAS-P towards ensuring food security in Adamawa.
Earlier in his remarks, the lead Consultant and Chief Operating Officer ADAS Programme, Mal. Yunusa Ibrahim Gafai, reaffirmed ADAS Programme’s commitment to complement the government efforts in ensuring food security in Adamawa.
Gafai, represented by the head of component two ADAS-P Mr. James Birdling thanked the Commissioner for his usual unflinching support and cooperation, and promised to properly utilize the advice.
On his part, the head of component one of the programme, Dr. Tasi’u Idi calls on farmers and all stakeholders to invest more on dry season farming as it gives better result considering the change in weather and climate.
