The Adamawa State Government has approved the release of ₦300 million for the procurement and distribution of essential nutrition commodities, marking a significant step in the state’s efforts to combat malnutrition. The announcement was made during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held on Friday, May 23, 2025, at the boardroom of the Adamawa State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ADSPHCDA).

The meeting, chaired by the Executive Chairman of the ADSPHCDA, Dr. Sulaiman Saidu Bashir, also endorsed a revamped nutrition commodity logistics system designed to enhance last-mile delivery and improve accountability.

Key attendees included the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health and Human Services, Pharm. Zirra Mathias Bubanani, and the Permanent Secretary of the Planning Commission, Mr. Tanimu Buba. Also in attendance were the State Chairman of the Standing Committee on Food and Nutrition, members of the ADSPHCDA Board and Management, Executive Secretaries of LGA Primary Health Care Authorities, Directors of Nutrition, and Nutrition Focal Persons from across the LGAs.

Representatives from the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), market authorities, the Muslim Council, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), security agencies, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) also participated—demonstrating broad-based community and institutional support.

This initiative forms part of the state’s broader strategy to address malnutrition and strengthen the delivery of nutrition interventions across all Local Government Areas (LGAs).
