
The Adamawa State Executive Council has approved contracts for key infrastructural projects totaling over N23 billion, marking a major step in Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s development agenda.
Announcing the approvals after the State Executive Council meeting chaired by Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta at the Government House, Yola, Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. James Iliya, disclosed that a contract worth N18.972 billion has been awarded for the construction of the Adamawa State International Conference and Event Centre. The contract was awarded to Messrs Lubell Nigeria Limited.
According to Iliya, the facility, upon completion, will serve as a hub for investors, enhance revenue generation, and create employment opportunities. The centre will feature a 1,000-seat multipurpose hall, syndicate rooms, a 350-capacity auditorium, a 100-seat seminar room, a pre-function area, restaurants, cafes, kitchen and catering services, retail outlets, a medical support unit, security and CCTV operations, as well as landscaped areas.
Additionally, the Council approved a revised design contract worth N1.96 billion for the roofing and structural upgrade of the popular stand at the Adamawa State Stadium Complex. The project, awarded to Messrs Aron Nigeria Limited, aims to bring the facility up to international standards and ensure resistance to windstorms.
The renovation and remodeling of the Adamawa State Governor’s Lodge in Kaduna was also approved at the cost of N614 million. The contract was awarded to Messrs Albarka Building Construction Limited.
Furthermore, the Council approved N2 billion as the state’s counterpart funding for the Rural Access Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP-SU).
In a related development, the Council has banned the pasting of posters on public buildings and structures across the state. Offenders will face legal consequences.
