Sultan announces Wednesday as Eid-El-Fitr

His Royal Highness, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar III, has officially declared Wednesday 10th April 2024, 1445AH, as the first day of Shawwal 1445AH, marking the celebration of Eid-El-Fitr.

The declaration was made by the Sultan, who also serves as the Chairman of the Nigeria Supreme Council of Islamic Affairs, confirming that Eid-El-Fitr will be observed on Wednesday, 10th April 2024.

According to a statement signed by the Chairman of the Advisory Committee on Religious Affairs, Professor Sambo Wali Junaidu of the Sultanate Council in Sokoto, it was disclosed that no valid reports were received by the Sultanate or the National Moon Sighting Committee regarding the sighting of the new crescent Shawwal on Monday, the 8th of April 2024, which corresponds to the 29th day of Ramadan in the Islamic calendar.

Additionally, the statement clarified that the following day, the 9th of April 2024, will mark the thirtieth day of Ramadan, culminating in the official declaration of Eid-El-Fitr on Wednesday.
