People’s Democratic Party PDP Elects New Leaders At North East Zonal Congress.

The Peoples Democratic Party PDP, in the North East has yesterday february 22nd conducted its zonal congress in Bauchi, where Alhaji Babangida Modibbo Umar from Adamawa state emerged as the new Zonal Vice Chairman.

The session held at the Dr. Rilwanu Suleiman Adamu Square, Government House, Bauchi, was attended by key party figures, including the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, as well as the governors of Adamawa, Bauchi, and Taraba – Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, and Dr Agbu Kefas, also Adamawa state Deputy governor.

Also present were former governors Ahmad Adamu Mu’azu, Dr Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, alongside National and State Assembly members from the region.

Delegates from the six states of the zone participated in the voting congress, where all 22 positions of the Zonal Party leadership were filled unopposed and announced by the electoral committee led by the chairman Arc. Ruben Okoya.

Declaring the event open, the out going Zonal Chairman Dr. Emmanuel Bovoa MFR while itemizing successes of the out going leadership so far, appreciated the three governors of the zone, the NWC of the Party, also other stakeholders and Party family for always supportive during their tenure in office, urging all to replicate much more to the newly elected leadership,

Addressing the gathering, PDP Acting National Chairman Ambassador Umar Iliya Damagum, described the peaceful conduct of the congress as a reflection of the party’s unity.

He also affirmed that similar congresses would be held across other geopolitical zones in preparation for the PDP National Convention.

In his acceptance speech, Alhaji Babangida Modibbo Umar, who spoke on behalf of the newly elected officials, pledged to justify the trust placed in them and sought continuous support from party members.

  8. Hon. Mustapha Adams – Publicity Sec. (Borno)
  9. Hon. Zainab A. Julde – Woman Leader (Gombe)
  10. Hon. Tijani Saleh – Youth Leader (Taraba).

However, the newly elected Party officials are yet to receive their certificate of return and inaugurated into office, which will all hold March 3rd 2025.
