Over One Million Farmers To Benefit From ADAS  Programme Support In Adamawa, Gafai Reveals

The Chief Operating Officer of Adamawa State Agribusiness Support Program (ADAS-P) Mal. Yunusa Ibrahim Gafai has assured that One Million and Fifty Thousand (1,050000) Farmers will be supported by ADAS Programme across the 21 LGA’s of the state.

The C.O.O gave the assurance during a meeting with all state and local government Directors of Agric and natural resources of the twenty one local government areas of the state and other  stakeholders from different MDA’s of the state.

Gafai added that ADAS is working round the clock to create an independent economic structure that will provide enabling environment to be boost the sector which will be used even in future.

He said “We are promoting 3 institutions in the rural areas for farmers program to implement the program that includes cooperative associations, cooperative savings and loan associations that  we will use to identity and accredit POS agents to profile farmers”

He further stated that the loan and saving scheme which will be derived by the District/Village heads will begin with N100m.

In his welcome address, the chairman implementation committee Dr. Ahmed Garba, says they will work to ensure only farmers on the battle line are captured in the programme.

He added that the government has given them freedom to do the needful in ensuring the programme succeed.

In her votes of thanks, the Administrative Secretary of the implementation committee Mrs, Joy Tarfa who said ADAS is to formalize the Agric sector, called on all to be transparent in all they do.

Mrs Tarfa Commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for giving them the needed support and called on all to work in changing the mindset of the people.

Other agricultural stakeholders that attended the meeting are representatives of A.A.D.P, Min. Of Women Affairs, Min. Of Agric among others.
