Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reiterated that his earlier directive revoking government land illegally encroached upon or occupied by individuals and organizations remains enforced.
The Governor stated this while responding to journalists in an interview after inspecting government facilities and projects undertaken by his administration in the state.
Fintiri, alongside government officials, while inspecting the office facilities of the State Agricultural Mechanization Authority, Yola, located at Kofare, expressed dismay over the illegal occupation and encroachment of the office land.
While expressing dissatisfaction with the illegality, he revealed that the government would take necessary action to address the situation and restore what belongs to the government.
According to the Governor, the action became necessary after he had, in 2019, announced the revocation of all government-owned land and facilities that were either illegally occupied or encroached upon by individuals or organizations.
He lamented that while the facilities were meant to create job opportunities for the youth, some selfish individuals had either illegally encroached upon or occupied the properties, converting them for personal use.
“I am out because, in 2019, I revoked this land, and now people have taken it upon themselves again to go ahead and forcefully develop these lands.
“We will either convert these lands to government property or remove them completely and put up structures that will look like an office where our youth, who will be employed, will work.”
While inspecting the state-of-the-art laboratory complex at the State Specialist Hospital, the Adamawa State Health Supplies Management Agency, and the model primary school in Jimeta, Fintiri expressed satisfaction with the projects.
The projects, which are near completion, with some already completed, according to the Governor, are meant to close the gap and address the health and educational needs of the citizens.
