Yola, Adamawa State — Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has officially flagged off the construction of the Jimeta Ultra-Modern Shopping Complex, a major project valued at N19.7 billion, aimed at boosting economic activities and attracting investors to the state. The project is slated for completion within 18 months.
Speaking at the groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Fintiri described the project as a strategic initiative to create a vibrant commercial hub that will foster economic growth and generate employment opportunities. He emphasized that the project would integrate modern retail spaces and state-of-the-art facilities, contributing to the government’s broader vision of modernizing the urban and rural landscape in Adamawa State. “This project will not only drive economic activities but also create jobs in construction, retail, security, management, and hospitality sectors,” Fintiri stated.
The project has been awarded to three reputable contractors: LUBELL Nig. LTD for LOT 1, Madugu Commercial and Construction Company for LOT 2, and AMIJAPP Nig. Ltd for LOT 3. These contractors will collaborate with Mssr Associated Design Consultants to ensure timely completion and deliver a world-class facility.
Governor Fintiri urged traders and the commercial community to actively engage with the Ministry of Commerce to take ownership of the project. He encouraged stakeholders to abandon skepticism and work towards the project’s success instead of waiting in vain for its failure.
The Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr. Ishaya Dabari, and the Chairman of Yola North Local Government Area, Barr. Jibrin, both lauded the governor’s commitment to economic development. They highlighted the project’s potential to transform the state’s business environment and assured their support to complement the government’s efforts.
