In a bold and commendable move to combat climate change challenges and promote climate smart agriculture, the Adamawa State Agribusiness Support Programme (ADAS-P) in Collaboration with Qafilatul Mahabba Foundation Adamawa State Chapter has flagged off planting of 479 trees in Yola south LGA of Adamawa State.
While flagging off the tree planting, the Northeast Zonal Comptroller, Federal Ministry of Environment Haj. Safiya Abubakar described the programme as timely considering the serious challenges caused by climate change as a result of deforestation among others.
Hajiya Safiya who doubles as the Comptroller Federal Min. of Environment Adamawa State commended ADAS Programme and Qafilatul Mahabba Foundation for their foresight and contributions towards reducing challenges leading to global warming and other climate change challenges.
On her part, the founder Center for Women & Adolescent Empowerment Haj. Asma’u Ahmed Joda who advised the Organisations to include women in tree planting activities, called on all to contribute towards making Adamawa Green.
Speaking Earlier, the Unit Head of Forestry ADAS Programme Murtala Bello Raji who commended the Fintiri’s led administration for giving the needed priority to agribusiness, explained that the aim of the Programme is to promote climate smart agriculture and restore Afforestation in the state.
On his part, the Coordinator of Qafilatul Mahabba Foundation Adamawa State Chapter Modibbo Aliyu Modibbo Sambo, stated that the they had similar Programme last year and they are planning to have site for Nursery plants to enable them give more contributions to the environment for the betterment of all.
