Fufore witnessed a historic moment on Wednesday as Alhaji Muhammadu Sani Ahmadu Ribadu was installed as the first Emir of the newly established Fufore Emirate during a colorful ceremony attended by dignitaries from various walks of life.
Ribadu’s appointment as the first Emir of Fufore was made by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri following the creation of seven new emirates and chiefdoms in Adamawa State.
Presenting the Second-Class Staff of Office to the new Emir in Fufore, Governor Fintiri emphasized that the establishment of the emirates was driven by the government’s genuine intention to reposition traditional institutions for better governance.
“We have enacted the Adamawa State Chiefs Appointment and Deposition Law 2024. This law is aimed at repositioning our traditional institutions to function as integral parts of the government structure,” Fintiri stated.
The governor expressed optimism that the creation of these emirates would enhance conflict resolution, strengthen local governance, and deepen democracy.
“Starting from Fufore, we are embarking on a journey that will foster unity, bind our people together, and create a governance structure that reaches areas previously difficult to access,” Fintiri added.
He dismissed any negative interpretations of the move as unfounded, describing them as “imaginations far removed from our genuine intentions.”
Governor Fintiri congratulated the new Emir, urging the people of Fufore to support him in building and nurturing the emirate.
He highlighted that Ribadu’s appointment was based on merit and called on him to lead with wisdom, foster unity, and strengthen local security through intelligence gathering.
Representing the Lamido of Adamawa, Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Mustafa, the Galadima of Adamawa, Alhaji Murtala Aminu, congratulated the new Emir and wished him divine guidance.
In his acceptance speech, Emir Muhammadu Sani Ahmadu Ribadu expressed gratitude to Governor Fintiri for the appointment, promising to serve his people diligently.
“I assure you that under my leadership, everyone will be treated equally without fear or favor,” he stated, calling for maximum support from the people to enable him to discharge his duties effectively.
The historic ceremony was graced by traditional rulers from within and beyond Adamawa State, past and present government officials, politicians, and members of the business community.
Highlights of the event included a mini durbar procession, cultural displays, and musical performances.
