Hon. Titus Solomon, Commissioner for Rural Infrastructure & Community Development in Adamawa State, has praised the Adamawa State Agribusiness Support Programme (ADAS-P) for its initiatives aimed at modernizing and commercializing agriculture. This commendation came during a recent engagement meeting with ADAS-P management at his office.

The Commissioner lauded Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for initiating the programme and reiterated the government’s commitment to collaborating with stakeholders to enhance the well-being of citizens. He recommended leveraging Kiri Dam to support dry-season farming in the state.

Mal. Yunusa Ibrahim Gafai, the lead consultant and Chief Operating Officer of ADAS-P, outlined the purpose of the visit as seeking the Ministry’s cooperation in advancing dry-season farming through cooperative societies. Gafai emphasized the need for the Ministry’s support in identifying farmers and creating community-level clusters.

Gafai detailed ADAS-P’s interventions, which include improving market access, facilitating finance, enhancing rural institutional development, and establishing a comprehensive database.

Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Engr. Mundi Musa Ibrahim, urged ADAS-P to focus on sensitization, highlighting the programme’s timeliness given the current national context.

In closing remarks, Mr. James Birdling, Head of Component Two of ADAS-P, expressed gratitude to the Commissioner for his support and reaffirmed their commitment to advancing agricultural modernization in Adamawa.
