As part of efforts to promote agroforestry in Adamawa State, the Adamawa State Agribusiness Support Programme (ADAS-P) held a meeting with the Qafilatul Muhabba Foundation to identify areas of collaboration to boost the sector.
The meeting was chaired by the Chief Operating Officer and Lead Consultant, Alh. Yunusa Ibrahim Gafai, who reiterated ADAS-P’s commitment to working with relevant partners on the agroforestry model to promote climate-smart agriculture and improve Adamawa State.
The Coordinator of the Qafilatul Muhabba Foundation expressed gratitude to ADAS-P for inviting and accepting the organization to discuss ways to support the agroforestry model in promoting climate-smart agriculture. He emphasized the foundation’s dual mandates of environmental sanitation and afforestation aimed at environmental conservation and restoration to support climate-smart agriculture.
The foundation’s founder is the current Imam of the Central Mosque in Abuja. The organization operates forty-eight branches across Nigeria, with four branches in Adamawa State.
The Project Coordinator proposed the need for service extension officers to guide them on the agroforestry model to support climate-smart agriculture.
Earlier, the Chief Operating Officer of ADAS-P welcomed the esteemed guests and thanked the organization for their collaborative efforts to fulfill the goals and mandates of both parties. He emphasized the importance of afforestation for societal benefit, creating seed funding from individuals (not cash), and integrating educational initiatives to promote climate-smart agriculture in the state.
The Chief Operating Officer assured support for the organization in structuring, obtaining donors, and promoting sustainable programs for seedling growers to enhance income records and yearly achievements.
He also noted the importance of selecting species based on agroforestry and economic value, highlighting that society has worked beyond its designated duties to address climate change.
