ADAS-P, USAID, IITA & Min. Of Agric To Partner In Improving Agricultural Activities in Adamawa State

The management of the Adamawa State Agribusiness Support Programme (ADAS-P) has joined the agricultural stakeholders meeting held at the Conference Hall of the Adamawa State Ministry of Agriculture, Yola and deliberated on how to realize the USAID intervention in the state.

In an interview with newsmen shortly after the meeting, the Principal Consultant of ADAS-P Mr Aminu Buhari described today’s meeting as a milestone
achievement and expressed their readiness to collaborate with all relevant stakeholders in agriculture.

The Consultant explained they had a pilot programme for grains and maize in Song & Gombi LGAs before the meeting.

Mr Buhari added that ADAS-P is working to provide an enabling environment which cannot be achieved without such enablers.

On his part, the Hon. Commissioner Min. of Agriculture Adamawa State Prof. David Finchiwa Jatau, appealed for USAID to intervene in agricultural mechanisms and extension workers which the state is lacking.

The Commissioner commended Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for ensuring farmer/harder clashes have been reduced to the barest minimum through dialogue and other security measures.

The Mission Director USAID, Mrs Melissa A Jones, on behalf of the United States government, pledged to support the Min. of Agriculture and its partners to address issues bedevilling the agricultural sector in the state.

During the visit, the USAID mission Director presented the USAID 2024 Calendar and writing material to the state commissioner of Agriculture.
