Adamawa to Boost Capacity of MDAs on Policy Implementation

The Adamawa State Planning Commission has organized a two-day capacity-building workshop for relevant Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in the state.

The workshop, which took place on Monday and Tuesday, January 27th-28th, 2025, at the State Planning Commission Conference Hall in Yola, aimed at enhancing the ability of MDAs to effectively implement state policies.

In her address, the Executive Chairman of the State Planning Commission, Dr. Mary Paninga, expressed gratitude to the Executive Governor of Adamawa State, Rt. Hon. Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, for providing the platform to build the capacity of MDA leaders, ensuring successful policy implementation across the state.

She noted that Adamawa State has approximately 10 drafted and approved policies across various sectors, with ongoing implementations. She emphasized the importance of achieving the set objectives for these policies to yield tangible and positive outcomes.

Dr. Paninga also presented an overview of the Adamawa State Social Protection Policy, outlining five key objectives: Social Protection, Social Insurance, Labour Market Interventions, Transformative Social Care and Complementary Measures, and Establishing and Strengthening the Social Protection System.

She highlighted that the policy aims to reduce the state’s current poverty rate of 67% by 15% by 2028. Dr. Paninga also emphasized the state’s commitment to creating a peaceful, secure, and productive environment where the poorest and most vulnerable citizens have a sense of belonging and their dignity is upheld.

During his session, the Permanent Secretary of the Minis try for Entrepreneurship Development, Kwaji Duguri, delved into the implementation strategies of the Adamawa State Social Protection Policy.

Earlier in the event, Alhaji Hassan Modibbo, Permanent Secretary of the State Planning Commission, welcomed participants and encouraged them to leverage the workshop for the greater development of Adamawa State.

The workshop concluded with participants engaging in group work, allowing them to collaborate on practical solutions for policy implementation.

This training initiative demonstrates the state government’s commitment to improving governance and ensuring that policies translate into meaningful change for the people of Adamawa. t ‘ –
