The Adamawa State Executive Council has proposed a budget of N268.8 billion for the 2025 fiscal year, in line with the Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and Economic and Fiscal Updates (FSP). According to the government, this budget aims to address critical areas, achieve fiscal discipline, and ensure proper allocation for efficiency in the 2025 budget preparation.

The State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr. Iliya James, disclosed this to newsmen after the Council meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri at the Government House in Yola.

The council has also approved N3.9 billion for the extension of the completed Saminaka Storm Water drainage project from the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) Yola fence to Airforce Comprehensive Secondary School Yola. The project, awarded to Messrs Triacta Nigeria Limited, is expected to be completed in six months and involves the excavation and construction of a 2.4km by 7m by 1.5m storm water drainage.

Additionally, the stormwater drainage will connect existing culverts across the Jambutu bypass and provide access culverts at selected locations in the area.

Mr. James further announced that the council has approved the handover of the upgraded Mubi General Hospital to the Federal Medical Centre, accompanied by a memorandum of understanding.

The state government has been alerted by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET) of an impending flood disaster that may affect Madagali, Mubi North, Mubi South, Shelleng, Demsa, Numan, Song, and Yola North Local Government Areas. The council is urging residents in flood-prone areas to relocate to safer places before September 16, 2024, as the government is prepared for any eventuality.

On behalf of the government and people of Adamawa State, Governor Umaru Fintiri has expressed sympathy with Borno State over the recent flood disaster and prayed for God’s intervention to prevent its recurrence.
