Ahead of the forthcoming local government election in Adamawa slated for July 13, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has directed the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to produce 21 women as chairmanship running mates.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri who is the leader of the PDP in Adamawa gave the directive during a stakeholders meeting of the party that held in the Banquet Hall Government House, Yola, Tuesday.

The Governor stresses that the party will continue to recognise the contributions of women, and therefore his administration will accord them the attention they deserved.

Fintiri warned the stakeholders against any act of sabotage or antiparty activities during the conduct of the local government polls, pointing out that such attitude is inimical to the PDP.

He therefore called on those who indulged in the act to use this period to correct the mess they have done to the party during the last conduct of twenty twenty three governorship election.

“I want everyone of us not to repeat what happened during the last governorship election. Handle it with all sense of commitment and without any lackadaisical attitude” said Fintiri.

Governor Fintiri charged the candidates who may loose the primary election to accept it in good faith, calling on PDP stakeholders to ensure free and fair conduct of the party’s primary elections.

In remarks, the State Chairman of PDP, Barrister Tahir Shehu said the meeting was called to discuss matters regarding preparations of the party ahead of the local government election.

He said the party intends to go round the state and campaign for the election, calling on the contestants to embrace whoever emerges as PDP flag bearers for chairmanship and councilorship positions.

Barrister Shehu noted that leadership is an act of destiny and God gives it to whoever He wants and therefore charged all the stakeholders to ensure the process is conducted successfully without any element of rancor
