Landslide Achievement: ADAS Programme To Absorb Farmers Trained by IITA.

The Adamawa State Agribusiness Support Program (ADAS-P) under the priority of the Fintiri’s administration, has concluded arrangements with the International Institute  of Tropical Agriculture IITA (A Nig. Integrated Agricultural Activity) to absorb farmers trained by the research institute on farming techniques and improved seed varieties a cross the state.

To this end, the ADAS Programme in collaboration with IITA held an engagement meeting with farmers cooperative society that were trained by IITA to discuss how ADAS can support them in having access to finance, improved seed varieties, fertilizer,  among other farm inputs

Speaking during the, the Chief Operating Officer of ADAS Programme Mal. Yunusa Ibrahim Gafai said the program will kick start with the five local government under the Adamawa Emirate Council before it further elaborate to the remaining local government areas.

Gafai explained that they are working round the clock to facilitate in identifying and connecting genuine farmers within their clusters to relevant stakeholders for support.

He stressed the need for farmers to have a registered cooperative society organization to enable them benefit from the programme.

Contributing, the Finance and Agribusiness Development Officer of IITA Mal. Munir Ahmad, assured the farmers of ADAS Programme commitment to boost Agribusiness in Adamawa State.

In a remark, the leader of Balijir Cooperative Society, Guyuk LGA  Mr.Yalba Kenos appealed for ADAS Programme Management to be time conscious and do the needful before the farming season fully kick start to enable them make good use of the inputs.

Responding, The C.O.O ADAS-P Mal. Yunusa Ibrahim Gafai, assured them on prompt and timely intervention as all arrangements are on top gear.

The programme was attended by ADAS Programme/IITA leadership and cooperative society organizations a cross the 21 LGA’s of the state.
