Sen Abbas Sinks Over 80 Boreholes In Hong, Gombi, Gives Farmers Water Pumps

The Senator representing Adamawa Central Senatorial District, Aminu Iya Abbas, has sunk over 80 boreholes as well as distributed water pump machines to farmers in Hong and Gombi LGA’s. respectively.

According to Senator Iya Abbas, the gesture is aimed at encouraging farmers to actively engage in dry season farming to boost food production.

Speaking while presenting the water pumps, Sen. Aminu who was represented by former member representing Gombi constituency, Hon. Japheth Kefas, said the gesture is aimed at assisting rural farmers to reduce poverty.

He added that the generators would go a long way in boosting agriculture and reduce poverty among the people of the area and urged the beneficiaries to make the most of the equipment.

The Senator told them that he had already made a promise to them when he visited the areas for campaign to provide projects and deemed it necessary to fulfill it as part of effort to cushion the effect of hardship.

He said that he had promised to deliver dividends of democracy to his constituents, and that embracing dry season becomes necessary in order to make food available and affordable.

He cautioned them not to sell the items but to use them for the purpose intended, and promised to do his best in providing good representing to his people.

Speaking earlier, the Executive Chairman Gombi LGC, Hon. Abdulrahman Dauda Shanga, commended the Senator for responding to his electorate within the short period of time.

Speaking at the event, some of the stakeholders who witnessed the distribution program appreciated Senator Iya Abbas for putting smiles in the faces of dry season farmers which he said would help most of the beneficiaries to take care of their needs

Some of the beneficiaries who bared their minds at the event, applauded the Senator for the gesture.
