Adamawa Govt Restates Commitment To Partner USAID For Development – Digital News and Magazine

Adamawa State Government has expressed its commitment towards continuous partnership with the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to improve the economy, health, gender equality, and capacity building amongst the people of the state.

Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri revealed this when he received a delegation of USAID led by the Mission Director, Mrs Melissa A Jones, on a courtesy call in the government house, Yola, Wednesday.

According to the Governor, the visit was an indication of his administration’s sustenance in building diplomatic ties with international communities for the progress of the Adamawa people.

He further explains the effort of his administration to incentivize the economic system, especially in the Cattle business, where the Adamawa government is building one of the largest cattle markets in sub-Saharan Africa.

Governor Fintiri appreciates USAID’s support to the Adamawa, urging the agency to consider increased intervention in the health sector and capacity building.

Governor Fintiri also intimates the USAID entourage to devise ways of supporting democracy in the state, thereby complementing his effort in providing equal opportunities, especially to women.

In her remark, the Mission Director USAID, Mrs Melissa A Jones, on behalf of the United States Government, commends the strides achieved by Governor Fintiri particularly signing the WASH Policy for improved hygiene amongst communities and intervention in HIV/AIDS, encouraging him to sustain the humanitarian activities.

Responding to Governor Fintiri’s revenue incentivization where the sum of three thousand naira is charged per cattle as revenue, against ten thousand naira in other states. She described the state government as considerate in terms of pegging revenue on commodities and appreciating measures put in place to cushion the economic hardship experienced by the people.

The team comprises Mr Robert Drapcho Director of Human Assistance, Ms Lynda Ashadlu Project Specialist Education, and Zainab Shuaibu PMS programme amongst others.
