Zonal leadership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the North-East under the leadership of Dr Emmanuel Bovoa MFR who is the National Vice Chairman (North-East) has passed a vote of confidence on the Party’s National leadership under the leadership of His Excellency Amb. Umar Iliya Damagum the Party’s National Acting Chairman.
As the Secretary of the Zonal Working Committee Kabir Bappa Jauro, wish to disclose in this release after an official engagement in Taraba state which include monitoring of the just concluded February 14th 2024 supplementary election for the Jalingo Yorro Zing federal house of representatives by-election, that the crisis bedevilling the party are on forces scared of Party structure.
But we joined our Governors forum and Board Of Trustee (BOT) to insist that the National Working Committee (NWC) of our great Party remained intact, as such here in the North-East Zone, we wish to pass a vote of confidence on His Excellency Amb. Umar Iliya Damagum leadership who has used his years of political experience to stabilise our great Party and gradually bringing it back to limelight.
No doubt that the Party experienced much huddles which is normal even in an organization, however the coming of Amb. Damagum was the air that sustained the Party and the PDP zonal headquarter North-East is part of it, he helped the Party escaped the harmer of some evil forces as it would have been worst if we didn’t win up to our current seats both in governorship, federal and state legislature. His efforts saved us.
Similarly, on behalf of the Party in the zone we equally commend the leadership of the PDP governors forum headed by His Excellency Sen. Bala A. Mohammed CON (Kauran Bauchi). Sen. Bala has been known as a man who respects the rule of law, who is ever prepared to fight for the Party to have a just cause. Many have admired him as a freedom fighter and a man of courage, which is one thing lacking in many National leaders today.
One of the challenge here is that once you are doing the right thing, you will step on toes. Their Excellencies Amb. Umar Iliya Damagum, Sen. Bala A. Mohammed and Sen. Adolphus Wabara happened to be victims of doing the right thing.
This may be a turbulent period in our Party. We have issues both at the local division, state and national levels but we thank God that good Party faithfuls are working to ensure the stabilization of the Party, just as we’re fortunate to have our leaders here in the zone, thus; His Excellency Rt. Hon. Ahmadu U. Fintiri of Adamawa State and His Excellency Dr Agbu Kefas of Taraba State striving to change the narratives. It is not unusual for issues like these to come up when you have contestations but what is important is for people to be reasonable enough to quickly resolve such issues to forge ahead.
