Following the approval of N1.2 billion counterpart funds for “Sustainable Development Goals” (SDG’s) by the Adamawa state executive council under Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s led administration, the SDG has revealed five priority areas of its intervention.
The five areas of intervention includes fight against hunger and poverty alleviation. The rest are improving health sector, education, clean water and sanitation.
The Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on SDGs, also the state Focal Person Hon. Muhammad Alfa Raji disclosed this while featuring on a Hausa popular radio programme “Jihar Mu A Yau ABC” broadcast by the state owned radio station.
The Focal Person explained that
Under the Health Sector, CBT Centre will be constructed at the school of Nursing and Midwifery, Yola and Industrial boreholes, and toilets will be constructed at the school of health Michika among others.
Under Poverty Alleviation:
. Conditional Cash Transfer
- Skills Acquisition Programs
- SME Start-Up Cash Support
Clean Water and Sanitation:
- Industrial Solar-Powered Boreholes
- Reactivation of Existing Boreholes
- Sustainable Water Management
- Community Hygiene Education
Fight Against Hunger:
- Agricultural Training with Seedlings & Fertilizer Distribution
- Livestock Training & Animal Distribution
- Food Support Programs among others.
He added that they will do the needful to ensure other projects initiated by SDG’s in the past and not handed over to state government will be considered and ensure that it’s handed over to the state government and put to use for the betterment of the state.
Raji commended the Governor for the kind gesture, describing it as a right step in the right direction.
