Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has charged the newly sworn-in Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Executive members to champion interfaith unity.

Governor Fintiri made the pronouncement on Wednesday while receiving the CAN Executive members on courtesy visit at Government House, Yola.

While congratulating the CAN Executive members on their election and inauguration into office in the state chapter recently, Governor Fintiri told the gathering that he has been fair to all throughout his five years in office.

He said that his administration has encouraged interfaith dialogue and removed all lines of hatred, championing unity which will foster the progress of the state.

Governor Fintiri assured the CAN of his administration’s support to give the religious association the courage to succeed in uniting its members and contributing to the growth and development of the state.

He urged the CAN members to show maturity where there is friction and to work for the good of all, as enshrined in the oath they had taken.

He praised the new leadership, describing them as people ready to work for the success of CAN and the state at large. He emphasized that his government has continually strived to work for the betterment of the state and the country at large.

Governor Fintiri stated that the door of his administration is open for consultation and that he is always available to discuss matters related to the growth and development of Adamawa.

Earlier speaking, the Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Adamawa State chapter, Rev. Dr. Joel Danjuma Manzo, said that they were at Government House, Yola, to express their courtesy and to officially introduce the new executive of CAN in Adamawa.

He lauded Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for bringing about a better Adamawa, while calling on the citizenry to rally support for the governor’s administration, describing it as one that has established cordial relationships in all aspects of life in the state.

Rev. Dr. Manzo said the church will always identify itself with good governance, particularly in the area of human welfare. He added that this stance creates an opportunity to hold leaders accountable when they exhibit bad leadership.

He disclosed that the CAN Executive Committee aims to enhance religious tolerance, peaceful coexistence, and interdenominational collaboration towards developmental projects.

He thanked Governor Fintiri for creating an enabling environment for freedom of worship and expression of faith, alongside peaceful business transactions within and around the state.
