Adamawa State Agribusiness Support (ADAS-P) during a meeting with NIRSAL Microfinance Bank and other relevant stakeholders has vehemently deliberated and outlined 25 potential irrigation areas within 11 local government areas of Adamawa state.
ADAS Programme will bring together NIRSAL MFB, NNFO, the affected local government’s Head of Agric, District Scribes and Chiefdoms/Emirates Secretaries among other stakeholders to visit the 25 potential areas for validation and forming them into clusters before the programme fully kickstart.
Some of the local government areas identified with the potential areas are: Yola south, Fufore, Demsa, Numan, Mayo-belwa and Lamurde local government areas respectively.
Others are Mubi North, Shelleng, Michika, Girei and Song LGA’s.
Speaking during the meeting, the ADAS engine room Mal. Yunusa Ibrahim Gafai,
explained that ADAS Programme facilitate market linkages, commercializing agriculture, improving access to finance, intercoodinnation to bring all parties together and creating standard and reliable structure/database for farmers.
The meeting chaired by ADAS Programme Lead Consultant and Chief Operating Officer Mallam Yunusa Ibrahim Gafai had in attendance Aliyu Baba-Inna of NIRSAL MFB, Murtala A. Mahmud of NNFO, Dr. Tasi’u Idi of ADAS, James Birdling of ADAS among others.
